Nagaon, Sept 12: With an objective to carry out a strong and effective review on the preparations for the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency bypoll and various other important issues related to the election, a joint meeting was held yesterday, which was attended by Commissioners and police officials of Nagaon and Morigaon districts. A detailed plan was prepared for the smooth conduct of every aspect for the upcoming election in the meeting.

The meeting, presided over by Nagaon District Commissioner and Returning Officer for this election, Aranyak Saikia, and was attended by Morigaon District Commissioner Srishti Singh, Nagaon Senior Superintendent of Police V V Rakesh Reddy and Morigaon Senior Superintendent of Police Nishant Saurabh. It is to be noted that this Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency comprises 5 Assembly constituencies of Nagaon district and three Assembly constituencies of Morigaon district.

In the meeting, various aspects of the preparation for the upcoming by-election were discussed in detail. Discussions were held regarding the preparation of polling stations, distribution system of election materials, security of counting centres and proper management of required human resources.

The strict security arrangements to be taken for law and-order situation under complete control on the day of election and the special security protocols enforced by the police administration in sensitive areas were also discussed. Additional Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, Election Officers of Nagaon and Morigaon district administrations along with other senior officers of the police department also participated in the meeting.

After this, another important preparatory meeting was held in the presence of the representatives of political parties of the district-centered around the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency by-election. The Nagaon DC said special emphasis has been laid on the use of the cVIGIL app prepared by the Election Commission to prevent any incident of violation of the election code, through which common citizens or parties can immediately inform the administration with proof of any illegal activity.
