Guwahati, Sept 12: One of India’s largest indoor cricket facilities was inaugurated at the ACA Cricket Academy, Fulung, North Guwahati, on Friday, adding to Assam’s cricketing infrastructure and providing players with facilities for year-round training, fitness and recovery. The facility was inaugurated by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia in the presence of Assam Cricket Association (ACA) secretary Sanatan Das, treasurer Anupam Deka, Apex Council member Mukutananda Bhattacharjya and other officials.

Spread across around 17,000 square feet, the facility has nine cricket wickets, including four spin wickets and five seam wickets. The wickets are equipped with imported Uniturf playing surfaces to allow players to train under different playing conditions.

The facility also has separate changing rooms for male and female players, with ice bath facilities in both rooms for post-training recovery. A 1,500-square-foot gymnasium has also been included.

Other facilities include a sauna, steam room and a dedicated physiotherapy unit for rehabilitation, injury management and recovery. “The development of modern cricket infrastructure is essential for creating the right environment for players to learn, train and progress,” Saikia said.

“I am confident that this facility will provide valuable support to the next generation of cricketers from Assam and contribute to their long-term development.” The indoor facility will allow uninterrupted training throughout the year, irrespective of weather conditions, and provide the ACA Cricket Academy greater scope to conduct structured training programmes.

It is also expected to support players in refining their skills, maintaining physical preparedness and preparing for the demands of competitive cricket at higher levels.
