ABC News Launches 'Searched,' a Livestreamed Trending News Show

ABC News has officially announced Searched, a half-hour livestreamed program focused on stories trending across social media and web searches. Hosted by ABC News correspondents Gio Benitez and Ashan Singh, the show releases new episodes every weekday.
Although formally announced recently, Searched originally began airing in April on the ABC News Live streaming channel, which is accessible through both Disney Plus and Hulu. Previous episodes of the show are also available on the ABC News YouTube channel.
According to an ABC News press release, the broadcast "pulls real-time data from the top search engines and social media platforms to provide topical news for the audience." Recent topics featured on the program include an Illinois Powerball winner, NBA star Russell Westbrook’s retirement, and Tropical Storm Lala.
The digital-first show is launching as broadcast television viewership declines and more audiences seek news through social media. Searched joins three other new programs debuting on ABC News Live:
- All Access with Linsey Davis: Features interviews with politicians, celebrities, athletes, and influencers.
- Burden of Proof: Highlights "the most talked-about trials."
- Doctor’s Note: Explores medical facts and health trends.
The addition comes as multiple streaming platforms expand into live news, sports, and other programming. Alongside these offerings, Disney Plus is exploring the potential launch of a free streaming tier, an option that Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos noted his company will "continue to consider."
