US Ambassador Sergio Gor concludes J&K, Ladakh visit; meets Omar Abdullah, visits Thiksey Monastery. SRINAGAR: US ambassador to India Sergio Gor Friday concluded his visit to Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, with his much-speculated meeting with Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama not taking place.

“Ambassador Sergio Gor wrapped up a visit to Srinagar and Leh this week, highlighting the growing US-India partnership through meaningful dialogue and cultural engagement. Earlier in the day, Gor visited the historic Thiksey monastery, one of the largest and most prominent monasteries in central Ladakh, about 19km from Leh.

The monastery is widely noted for its resemblance to the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet.
