DIBRUGARH, Sept 24: Upper Assam has recorded 23,157 cancer cases and 7,073 deaths across nine districts between 2019 and 2023, according to a comprehensive five-year report by the Population Based Cancer Registry (PBCR), Dibrugarh. Released at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) by its principal, Dr Sanjeeb Kakati, the report covers nearly a quarter of Assam’s population across Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Golaghat, Jorhat, Majuli, Lakhimpur, and Dhemaji districts.
