One Indian killed, two injured in attack on Dammam airport in Saudi ArabiaNEW DELHI: One Indian national was killed and two others were injured in an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday night, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) said on Thursday. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of the deceased and we wish speedy recovery of the injured,” the MEA said.
Saudi Arabia's general authority of civil aviation (GACA) said the airport was targeted on Wednesday evening, October 21. The injured were taken to hospital for medical treatment, while the attack also caused property damage, the extent of which was being assessed, GACA said.
Meanwhile, the US state department ordered the departure of non-emergency government employees and their family members from Saudi Arabia, citing security concerns. State department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said Iran-backed Houthis had increasingly engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including attacks on civilian airports and other critical infrastructure, resulting in civilian casualties and travel disruptions.
