12:40 (IST) Aug 19Welcome back, folks. Skies remain clear over Galle with the sun shining nice and bright.
The Indian team is in a huddle near the ropes. Now, they spread out.
Shubman Gill has not come out, and in his absence, KL Rahul will be captaining India for now. Sarfaraz Khan is in as the substitute for Gill.
With Sri Lanka under the pump, Sonal Dinusha and Keshara Nuwantha walk to the crease to resume their partnership, which is now worth 19 runs. Kuldeep Yadav will get us underway with the first over of the session.
12:40 (IST) Aug 19... 12:17 (IST) Aug 19Agenda set for the day ahead - India are almost there, though four wickets still stand between them and victory.
Dinusha looks completely unbothered by whatever's unfolding at the other end, and his job now is to shepherd the tail through as long as possible. India, for their part, will be desperate to snuff out any hint of a wag before it gets going, and wrap this up without dragging things into the final session.
40 pm IST). 12:12 (IST) Aug 19Successful in creating inroads - Sonal Dinusha continued his fine run with the bat, showing once again that knack he has for anchoring an innings and building partnerships.
And that is an invaluable currency in this format. Jadeja probed away for India, extracting a couple of half chances here and there.
But it took the Indians well over an hour to finally make the breakthrough, with Jadeja removing Dhananjaya de Silva and putting an end to a defiant 95-run stand. 12:07 (IST) Aug 19Stubborn in defence - The pitch still looked in decent shape, with not too many indentations to speak of, and the first hour was negotiated safely by Sonal Dinusha and Dhananjaya, both rock solid in defence throughout.
The Indian bowlers, for their part, kept probing away with disciplined lines and lengths, content to wait for the batters to err rather than force the issue themselves. And every so often, the cracks did show, the odd forced stroke offering a glimpse of the vulnerabilities lurking just around.
02 pm IST) - 33 overs, 91 runs and 2 wickets in the morning session. India will surely be the happier of the two teams.
While the partnership between Dhananjaya de Silva and Sonal was going on, it seemed India would have a long day, but with those couple of quick wickets, India are in the driver’s seat again. 6Score175 - 6 Manav Suthar to Keshara Nuwantha, This is pushed through, shorter and on the off stump.

462 More UpdatesIndia vs Sri Lanka Live, 1st Test: India are on the verge of a commanding victory in the first Test against Sri Lanka after an impressive fourth-day display in Galle left the hosts facing one of the toughest chases in the venue's history. After setting a target of 372, India reduced Sri Lanka to 84/4 by stumps, leaving Dhananjaya de Silva's side requiring another 288 runs to pull off a remarkable win.
The foundations for India's imposing target were laid by Rishabh Pant, who produced another typically adventurous Test innings. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 66 and reached his fifty in only 53 balls, combining his trademark strokeplay with valuable runs under pressure.
His six off Lahiru Kumara brought up his half-century and also marked his 100th six in Test cricket. Pant became the first Indian and the quickest batter to reach the milestone.
He added 54 runs with Ravindra Jadeja before eventually nicking Kumara behind. Devdutt Padikkal, who had scored 167 in the first innings, continued his excellent form with a fluent 44.
He attacked Sri Lanka's spinners confidently before Keshara Nuwantha trapped him on the back foot. KL Rahul contributed 35, including two sixes against Prabath Jayasuriya, but was eventually dismissed by the spinner after India's second-wicket partnership with Padikkal had added 65 runs.
India's innings also featured early and important wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal edged Asitha Fernando in the first over, while Shubman Gill was dismissed leg before by Jayasuriya.
India lost several wickets late in the innings but had already established a commanding advantage. Sri Lanka's chase then unravelled quickly.
Siraj dismissed Nishan Fernando, Prasidh removed Kamindu Mendis, and Suthar struck twice. Pasindu Sooriyabandara, replacing the injured Dinesh Chandimal as a concussion substitute, lasted only one delivery before being trapped lbw.
Suthar later dismissed Lahiru Udara as India tightened their grip on the Test. With rain forecast for the final day, India will hope to complete the remaining six wickets and move 1-0 ahead in the two-Test series.
