NEW DELHI: A bomb threat was received via email at the Delhi High Court on Friday at around 11:43 am, prompting authorities to activate the standard operating procedure (SOP) and initiate extensive security checks across the premises.
The threat was received a day ahead of Independence Day, a period when security agencies maintain heightened vigilance across the national capital. Following the alert, the Registrar General of the Delhi High Court coordinated directly with the Delhi Police.
Key details regarding the threat and the security response include:
The email mentioned August 15 and contained the warning, " Lal Qila ta nishana hove ga" (the Red Fort will be targeted). The message referenced perpetrators dressed in khaki, hinting that uniformed personnel might be involved in the alleged operation.
A bomb disposal squad, sniffer dog teams, and fire personnel were deployed to search the court complex. Following comprehensive searches of the premises, officials found no suspicious objects or explosive materials.
Authorities subsequently declared the threat to be a hoax.
