Members of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) marched from Patel Chowk to the Parliament Street Police Station in New Delhi on Friday, demanding the arrest of self-styled influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj over an alleged assault during a demonstration at Jantar Mantar.

The demonstration was led by CJP spokesperson Saurav Das and co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka in connection with injuries sustained by Sanjay, the father of student activist Nishu Azad, during a sit-in protest.

Key developments surrounding the protest include:

CJP Demands: Party leaders alleged that members of a criminal gang attacked their gathering. They urged Delhi Police to invoke the SC/ST Act and add attempt-to-murder charges, noting the victim belongs to a Dalit family.

Police Stance: Delhi Police disputed claims that Sanjay sustained a skull fracture, stating he suffered a minor injury during a scuffle and that a case was registered on his complaint. Barricades and extra personnel were deployed outside the station.

Political Backing: Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) president Chandra Shekhar Aazad and Independent MP Pappu Yadav joined the demonstrators outside the police station to back the demands for justice. Video Claims: CJP posted a video on X in which Bhardwaj allegedly claimed responsibility for the assault, claimed the victim required 60 stitches, and asserted political backing protected him from detention.

Addressing reporters, Saurav Das stated that when the party pressured authorities to add severe charges, police instructed them to seek a court order. Co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka accused Delhi Police of inaction under political influence.

Sanjay stated he was attacked after raising slogans during the protest and accused police of weakening the victim's case. Opposition leaders, including Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, have also questioned why Bhardwaj has not been jailed.
