DARWIN, Australia — Bangladesh registered a historic nine-wicket victory over Australia on Sunday at Darwin's Marrara Oval, securing its first-ever Test win on Australian soil and just its second overall against the hosts.

After Australian captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat, the hosts were bowled out for 198 in their first innings, with Steve Smith top-scoring with 71. Bangladesh responded with 426, bolstered by a Tanzid Hasan century and a half-century from Mehidy Hasan Miraz, to secure a commanding 228-run lead.

Resuming Day 4 at 161-4, Australia was bowled out for 284 midway through the afternoon session, leaving Bangladesh with a target of 57 runs. Despite losing Tanzid Hasan for a duck to Josh Hazlewood (1-5), Shadman Islam (25 not out) and Mominul Haque (30 not out) guided Bangladesh to victory in 14.2 overs.

Key Match Performances:

Mehidy Hasan Miraz: Followed his first-innings half-century by taking 5-66 in the second innings, dismissing Steve Smith, Alex Carey (30), Beau Webster (5), Pat Cummins (8), and Nathan Lyon. Cameron Green: Scored 104 off 201 balls (reaching his century in 192 deliveries with four boundaries and one six) to record his third Test hundred, his first in Australia, and lead the hosts' second-innings resistance.

Hasan Mahmud: Claimed 3-56, eventually ending Green's innings with a low delivery. The result marks only Bangladesh's second Test victory over Australia, following its maiden triumph in Dhaka in 2017.

The two-Test series now moves to Mackay, Queensland, for the second Test starting on August 22.
