Itanagar, Sept 22: Arunachal Pradesh’s final electoral roll was published on Tuesday with 6,96,026 voters, marking a reduction of 1,91,479 electors from the pre-Special Intensive Revision (SIR) count of 8,87,505. The final electoral roll comprises 3,43,709 male voters, 3,52,315 female voters and two third-gender electors.

The gender ratio stands at 1,025 women per 1,000 men, according to officials at the state election office. 61 per cent of registered electors on the final roll possess either a physical or digital Voter ID card.

The SIR of electoral rolls in Arunachal Pradesh began on June 5, while the draft electoral roll was published on July 21 with 7,18,046 electors. Of these, 6,32,871 electors were mapped as self or progeny, while 85,175 remained unmapped.

Notices were subsequently issued to unmapped electors as well as those with logical discrepancies for verification. In total, 2,18,588 notices were issued during the notice phase, officials said.

The authorities there after conducted hearings and verified documents submitted by electors, along with undertakings furnished by booth-level officers. During the claims and objections period from July 21 to August 20, the election authorities received 18,598 forms.

Following the scrutiny of claims and objections, 8,803 electors were added, while 1,924 electors were deleted from the draft roll. The final roll, however, records a substantial decline from the pre-SIR electoral count of 8,87,505 to 6,96,026, representing a reduction of 1,91,479 voters.

Electors who are aggrieved by the final roll can file an appeal before the district magistrate within 15 days of publication of the final electoral roll. A second appeal can subsequently be filed before the chief electoral officer within 30 days of the district magistrate’s order.

The final electoral roll for service voters was also published on Tuesday, with 5,552 service electors enrolled in the state.
