The Meghalaya Linguistic Minority Development Forum (MLMDF) has approached the Meghalaya High Court following recent incidents of violence and vandalism in Shillong.

According to an official statement, the forum submitted a Letter Petition before the court seeking immediate intervention and accountability regarding the unrest.

Through the petition, the MLMDF has requested the following measures:

• Rally Regulation: Implementation of stronger regulation and policing of rallies.
• Legal Action: Direct action against individuals responsible for the vandalism and violence.
• Restoration: The ceremonial restoration of damaged national icons.
