9 Bangladeshi nationals killed in massive fire at Kolkata hotel

Officials said further details about the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the deaths were being investigated."The dense smoke made it difficult for firefighters to climb the staircase and reach the upper floors. While nine people have died, more deaths are feared," a police officer told PTI."Our priority is to rescue those trapped and determine the reasons for the fire. The flames have been doused, and the cooling process is underway," he added.West Bengal Fire Department headquarters is located close to the hotel building8 killed in separate incidentIn a separate incident in Birbhum district, at least eight people were killed after fire broke out at a private hotel in Tarapith on Tuesday.The fire broke out at around 5am on the ground floor of the four-storey Hotel Bideshinii, located near a pond and a short distance from Tarapith police station.Most of the guests were asleep when the blaze began.Firefighters reached the hotel and brought the fire under control. The injured were rescued and taken to Rampurhat Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
